The Castle Gardens
At the heart of the gardens is the grassy sward of the Dubh Linn Garden, where patterns representing sea serpents are cut into the lawn. This lawn is on or near the site of the original dubh linn or ‘black pool’, where the Vikings harboured their ships and set up a trading base. It was this pool that gave its name to the city: Dublin. Today, the garden is an oasis of calm in the heart of Dublin and can be hired for events such as theatre performances, corporate entertaining or musical recitals.
The Upper Courtyard
The Upper Courtyard of Dublin Castle provides a dramatic backdrop for any event. One of the most historically significant locations in the capital, our nation took its first steps of independence from here.
A rare enclosed space in the city, this venue can be made available for large-scale events.
